Rosatom's industry integrator for energy storage systems, LLC RENERA (an enterprise of TVEL Fuel Company), organized the first electric cart race in Russia. Racing cars of the MINI class were equipped with lithium-ion batteries manufactured by Rosatom. The races were organized jointly with the ANO "Academy of Motorsport F7" among riders aged 9-11 years at the Izhorets cartodrome in the Kolpinsky district of St. Petersburg.
Ten electric cars with a capacity of 10 kW, equipped with RENERA batteries, participated in the competition. Compared to their gasoline counterparts, these maps are more dynamic and maneuverable on the race track. Unlike gasoline cars, electric maps do not have an exhaust: this solves the problem of gas contamination of the air and poor health of young athletes, which is especially important for closed cartodromes. The transition to electric transport in this sport opens up new opportunities for both rental karting and training of professional teams.
"The appearance of this kind of Russian-made equipment was made possible thanks to the active development of energy storage systems. Today's race showed that there is great potential for the development of an environmentally friendly sport, the popularity of which is gaining momentum. We are confident that RENERA energy storage devices have a great potential for implementation not only in karting, but also in other types of electric transport, " said Emin Askerov, General Director of RENERA LLC.
Lithium-ion batteries are the optimal solution for energy storage from a technical and economic point of view. They are sealed, do not require maintenance and special rooms for charging, have a long service life. The high energy density of lithium-ion batteries ensures their lightness and compactness. RENERA batteries are manufactured to high safety standards, similar batteries are used in passenger electric vehicles and electric vehicles of the world's largest manufacturers.
